Free up space on your iPhone: find the photos and videos that take the most storage, move them to your Mac over a USB cable, and delete them from the iPhone only after the Mac has verified every file.

• iPhone app: lists every photo and video by size, largest first. Select items and tap Move to Mac, or delete them directly.
• Mac app (free): receives the files and saves them in a folder you choose, organized by year and month with their original dates.
• Safe: each file is checked with a SHA-256 checksum before it counts as saved. If you unplug the cable mid-transfer, it resumes where it stopped. Free Up only deletes items the Mac confirms it still has.
• Private: no account, no cloud, no analytics, no internet connection. See the Privacy Policy.

Getting started

1. Install StorageAnalytics on your iPhone from the App Store.
2. Download StorageAnalytics for Mac from Releases and open it (macOS 14 or later).
3. Connect the iPhone to the Mac with a cable, unlock the iPhone, and tap Trust if asked.
4. In the iPhone app, tap Select, choose photos or videos, then tap Move to Mac. The first time, approve the Mac on the iPhone; both screens show the same code.
5. When the transfer finishes, open the Mac tab and tap Free Up. Deleted items stay in Photos › Recently Deleted for 30 days; empty it to reclaim the space right away.

Troubleshooting

• The Mac says “Open the App on iPhone”: unlock the iPhone, keep StorageAnalytics open on screen, and check that you tapped Trust. Try another cable or port; some cables only charge.
• The transfer paused: the Mac may be out of space or the destination drive disconnected. Fix that and tap Resume.
• If iCloud Photos is on, deleting a photo on the iPhone also deletes it from iCloud and your other devices.
